Thamud (people also) belied the warnings. 23 For they said: "A man! Alone from among us, that we are to follow? Truly, then we should be in error and distress or madness!" 24 Has the [Divine] message been revealed to him alone of all of us? No, he is a boastful liar." 25 They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar. 26 Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience; 27 Tell them that each one of them has the right to have a certain share of water". 28 But they summoned their [boldest] companion, and he ventured [upon the evil deed,] and cruelly slaughtered [the animal]: 29 How [terrible] were My punishment and My warnings! 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warnings. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 as a favour from Us. Thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 And he [Lout (Lot)] indeed had warned them of Our Grasp, but they did doubt the warnings! 36 And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) "Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 37 And in truth the punishment decreed befell them early in the morning. 38 "Taste, then, the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded!" 39 We have made it easy indeed to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 40
