(The tribe of) Thamud rejected warnings 23 They said, "Should we follow only one person among us. We shall be clearly in error and in trouble (if we do so). 24 Hath the admonition been laid upon him from amongst us! Aye! he is a liar insolent. 25 'They shall surely know tomorrow who is the impudent liar. 26 Surely We are going to send the she-camel as a trial for them; therefore watch them and have patience. 27 Tell them that the water is to be apportioned between them (and her); and every turn of drinking will be fixed (for each)." 28 Then they called their fellow, and he took the sword and hamstrung her, 29 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 32 The people of Lut rejected (his) warning. 33 We sent a stone-hurtling storm against them, except the family of Lot whom We saved in the early hours of the morning 34 As favor from us. Thus do We reward he who is grateful. 35 He had warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warnings. 36 And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning." 37 Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them: 38 "Taste My punishment now that you have scorned My warnings!" 39 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 40
