The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Most Merciful 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He created man. 3 He has imparted unto him articulate thought and speech. 4 The sun and the moon are in a reckoning. 5 And the herbs and the trees do prostrate (to Him). 6 and He has raised up the heaven and has set a balance 7 In order that you may not transgress (due) balance. 8 And observe the weight with equity and do not make the balance deficient. 9 And earth -- He set it down for all beings, 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 Which favors of your Lord will you both (humans and jinn) belie? 13 He created man from clay like [that of] pottery. 14 And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 18 He unleashed the two seas so that they merge together, 19 and between them is a barrier which they do not overpass. 20 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 21 From the two oceans comes pearls and coral. 22 Which, of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 23 His are the ships, towering on the sea like mountains. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
