The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Allah, the Most Gracious 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He hath created man. 3 and has taught him articulate speech. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 And the stars and trees prostrate. 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 That you not transgress within the balance. 8 Therefore, maintain just measure and do not transgress against the Balance. 9 And He appointed the earth for the creatures. 10 Therein is fruit and palm trees having sheaths [of dates] 11 Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which favors of your Lord will you both (humans and jinn) belie? 13 He created man from clay like that of earthenware. 14 and He created the jinns from a flame of fire. 15 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 18 He has set the two oceans in motion, converging together. 19 but has created a barrier between them so that they will not merge totally. 20 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 21 There come forth from the twain the pearl and the coral. 22 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 23 His are the ships with elevated sails upon the sea like mountains. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
