The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 Created man, 3 and has taught him articulate speech. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 And the stars and trees prostrate. 6 And the heaven He has raised high, and He has set up the Balance. 7 so that you would maintain justice. 8 Therefore, maintain just measure and do not transgress against the Balance. 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 In which are fruits, and covered dates. 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 18 He has made the two oceans meet each other, 19 Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass. 20 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 21 From the two oceans comes pearls and coral. 22 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 23 His are the ships displayed upon the sea, like banners. 24 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 25
