The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Compassionate. 1 Hath taught the Qur'an. 2 He created man 3 and has taught him articulate speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow courses (exactly) computed; 5 [before Him] prostrate themselves the stars and the trees. 6 He raised the sky and set the Balance 7 Do not transgress the scales. 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 And He appointed the earth for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees with their dates in sheaths, 11 and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He created man from clay like [that of] pottery. 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 16 [He is] the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunrise, and the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunset. 17 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 18 He has made the two oceans meet each other, 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 21 Pearls and corals come forth from both of them. 22 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 23 His are the ships displayed upon the sea, like banners. 24 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 25
