The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Beneficent (God) 1 Taught the Qur'an, 2 He created the human being 3 and taught him its pronunciation. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning. 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 In order that you may not transgress (due) balance. 8 And establish the measures justly, nor decrease the due weight. 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 with fruit thereon, and palm trees with sheathed clusters [of dates,] 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 And the jinns did He create from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 16 [He is] the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunrise, and the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunset. 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He has let loosed the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together. 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 21 Out of them come pearls and coral. 22 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 23 His too are the ships that run, raised up in the sea like land-marks. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
