The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 has taught the Quran to (Muhammad). 2 Created man, 3 and has taught him intelligible speech. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 and the stars and the trees all prostrate themselves, 6 And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure, 7 so that you should not transgress the measure. 8 And observe correct measure, weigh with justice, and not cheat the balance. 9 He set down the earth for the creation. 10 In which are fruits, and covered dates. 11 and a variety of corn with both husk and grain. 12 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 13 He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery. 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie 16 (He is) Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests: 17 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 18 He hath let loose the two seas. 19 Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass. 20 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 21 Out of them come Pearls and Coral: 22 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
