The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 Hath taught the Qur'an. 2 He hath created man. 3 [And] taught him eloquence. 4 The sun and the moon are scheduled. 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 In order that you may not transgress (due) balance. 8 and weigh with justice, and skimp not in the Balance.) 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees sheathed. 11 and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. 12 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 13 He created man from clay like [that of] pottery. 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 16 Lord of the East and Lord of the West. 17 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 18 He has made the two oceans meet each other, 19 Whereas there is a barrier between them so they cannot encroach upon one another. 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 Pearls and corals come forth from both of them. 22 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 25
