The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Merciful One 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 Has created Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him) as the soul of mankind. 3 He has imparted unto him articulate thought and speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning. 5 The plants and trees prostrate before Him. 6 and heaven -- He raised it up, and set the Balance. 7 (Transgress not in the Balance, 8 Give just weight and do not skimp the scales. 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees with their dates in sheaths, 11 grain with its husk and aromatic herbs. 12 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 18 He let forth the two seas that meet together, 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 From them come forth the pearl and the coral. 22 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 23 His are the lofty ships, that rear aloft on the sea like mountains. 24 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 25
