The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 has taught the Quran to (Muhammad). 2 He created man. 3 He has imparted unto him articulate thought and speech. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 The stars and the trees prostrate themselves. 6 He raised the sky and set the Balance 7 so that you should not transgress the measure. 8 And observe the weight with equity, and make not deficient the balance. 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees with their dates in sheaths, 11 And grain covered with husk, and fragrant flowers. 12 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 16 (He is) Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests: 17 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 18 He has set the two oceans in motion, converging together. 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 21 There come forth from them pearls, both large and small. 22 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 23 To Him only belong the sailing ships, raised above the sea like hills. 24 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 25
