The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Allah, the Most Gracious 1 Has taught (you mankind) the Quran (by His Mercy). 2 Created man, 3 He taught him eloquent speech. 4 The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation, 5 And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. 6 And the heaven, He raised it high, and He made the balance 7 So that none may err against the scales, 8 And establish the measures justly, nor decrease the due weight. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 therein fruits, and palm-trees with sheaths, 11 Grain with husk, and fragrant grasses. 12 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 13 He has created man out of sounding clay, like pottery, 14 And He created Jinns from fire free of smoke: 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 He is the Lord of the two easts and the Lord of the two wests. 17 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 18 He has set flowing two seas that appear to meet. 19 Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress. 20 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 21 From the two oceans comes pearls and coral. 22 Which, of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 23 His too are the ships that run, raised up in the sea like land-marks. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
