The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 Has created Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him) as the soul of mankind. 3 Has taught him the knowledge of the past and the future. 4 The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). 5 and the stars and the trees all prostrate themselves, 6 And the Firmament has He raised high, and He has set up the Balance (of Justice), 7 That you may not be inordinate in respect of the measure. 8 but weigh things equitably and skimp not in the balance. 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 with fruit thereon, and palm trees with sheathed clusters [of dates,] 11 And grain covered with husk, and fragrant flowers. 12 Which favors of your Lord will you both (humans and jinn) belie? 13 He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery. 14 And the jinn did He create of smokeless fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 Lord of both the Easts, and Lord of both the Wests! 17 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 18 He let forth the two seas that meet together, 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 21 Out of them come pearls and coral. 22 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 23 His are the ships displayed upon the sea, like banners. 24 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 25
