The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 He created man 3 and He has taught him the Explanation. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning. 5 And the herbs and the trees do obeisance. 6 And the heaven, He raised it high, and He made the balance 7 So that none may err against the scales, 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 And the earth He has put for the creatures. 10 In which are fruits, and covered dates. 11 Grain with husk, and fragrant grasses. 12 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 13 He created man of fermented clay dried tinkling hard like earthen ware, 14 and has created the jinn from the flame of fire. 15 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 16 He is the Lord of the East and West through all seasons. 17 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 18 He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together: 19 Whereas there is a barrier between them so they cannot encroach upon one another. 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 There come forth from the twain the pearl and the coral. 22 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 23 His are the lofty ships, that rear aloft on the sea like mountains. 24 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 25
