The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He has created man: 3 [And] taught him eloquence. 4 The sun and the moon follow courses (exactly) computed; 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 And Allah has raised the sky; and He has set the balance. 7 In order that you may not corrupt the balance. 8 Therefore, maintain just measure and do not transgress against the Balance. 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 There are fruits of all kinds on it, and date-palms with their clusters sheathed, 11 Grain with husk, and fragrant grasses. 12 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 13 He created the human from clay, like earthenware 14 And He created Jinns from fire free of smoke: 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 Lord of the two easts and of the two wests is He. 17 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 [yet] between them is a barrier which they may not transgress. 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 Out of them both come out pearl and coral. 22 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 25
