The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 He created the human being 3 and He has taught him the Explanation. 4 The sun and moon revolve to a computation; 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 He raised the heavens and set up the measure, 7 So that none may err against the scales, 8 So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. 9 And the earth He has put for the creatures. 10 Therein is fruit and date-palms, producing spathes (enclosing dates); 11 And grain chaffed and other food. 12 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 13 He created man of clay like the potter's, 14 And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 There is a barrier between them. They encroach not (one upon the other). 20 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 21 Out of them come pearls and coral. 22 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 25
