The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 Taught the Quran. 2 Created man, 3 And taught him to express clearly. 4 The sun and the moon move according to a fixed reckoning; 5 And the herbs and the trees - both (alike) prostrate in adoration. 6 He raised the heavens and set up the measure, 7 (Transgress not in the Balance, 8 So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 Therein is fruit and palms having sheathed clusters, 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 13 He has created man, from dry ringing clay, like the potter"s, 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, Lord of the two Wests. 17 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 18 He let forth the two seas that meet together, 19 between them a barrier they do not overpass. 20 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 23 By His command, the ships with raised masts sail on the sea like mountains. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
