The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and spreading shade 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
