The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and continuous shade, 30 near to flowing water 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
