The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
