The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
