The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And spreading shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And raised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And have made them virgins. 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
