The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And spreading shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
