The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and amid the extended shade 30 near to flowing water 31 and fruits abounding 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For those on the right. 38
