The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and continuous shade, 30 and gushing water, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those on the right hand; 38
