The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and flowing water, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For those on the right. 38
