The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 near to flowing water 31 and abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
