The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
