The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and spreading shade 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And couches raised up. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
