The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water poured out 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For those on the right. 38
