The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
