The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virginal, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
