The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 You will become three categories: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and a few from later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
