The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and spreading shade 30 And water gushing, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
