The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 a host of the ancients 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and banana trees, 29 And shade extended 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
