The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and serried acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
