The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Who will be honoured 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of later ages, 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and fruits abounding 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And raised couches; 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
