The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a host of the ancients 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 and made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
