The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Who will be honoured 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and serried acacias, 29 And extended shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those on the right. 38
