The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Terror descends 1 there is no denying its coming 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
