The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Who will be honoured 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and spreading shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
