The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from the latter. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and spreading shade 30 near to flowing water 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
