The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And have made them virgins. 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
