The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and banana trees, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
