The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And extended shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgins. 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
