The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and spreading shade 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
