The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Who will be honoured 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And shade extended 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 and raised couches 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 for the people of the right hand 38
