The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water everflowing. 31 and abundant fruits, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 and raised couches 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
