The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 and a few from later times. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and shade extended, 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
