The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and shade extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And couches raised up. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
